Shepherdess Walk

Active Group was appointed as main contractor to undertake the demolition and enabling works package for the former Grupo Antolin building, a BMW/Mini factory used to produce and inject car foam to motor vehicles.


Shepherdess Walk

Active was appointed as principal contractor to undertake the internal soft strip, asbestos removal and demolition works to the former four storey, one basement level office block at Paulton House Sheperdess Walk adjacent Shoreditch Police Station and the offices of world renowned chef Jamie Oliver.

The project was undertaken on behalf of Boultbee Developments/GPAD with mandatory Sustainability and Environmental target, over 90% of the building was recycled into renewable resources, but the structure was stripped and internal demolition undertaken with no noise and vibration impact to either the adjacent offices or the police station.

The structure is a brick-built structure with timber floors with a gross internal area of over 1,280 square meters. Over all floors all mechanical and electrical equipment, partitions, soffits and flooring was removed inclusive of the two main stair cores and lift shaft, at basement level all brick/block built walls were removed to the reinforced concrete ground bearing slab.

With a four-week programme and restrictions on site traffic, the project was highly demanding yet completed within time, on budget and, most of all, safely.

As part of the works, Active had to protect and retain external boundaries, as principal contractor, Active established the site equipped to undertake the works conforming to CDM 2007 regulations and Health and Safety at Work Act. Site welfare provisions exceeded the minimum requirements of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 and the smoke-free (Premises and Enforcement) Regulations 2006.
